November 2026 Marine Outlook: Tides, Weather, and Boating in South Florida

Published 2026-11-04 · 6 min read

November brings two king tide windows, the Beaver Moon, and the end of hurricane season. Here is what to expect on the water in Broward and Palm Beach.

Two high-water windows this month

NOAA-based tide predictions put king tide windows in South Florida on November 6 to 9 and November 23 to 26. The South Florida Water Management District's east coast forecast lists elevated periods from November 5 to 11 and November 22 to 29.

The second window is tied to the full moon, and it is the higher of the two this month.

The Beaver Moon

November's full moon, the Beaver Moon, falls on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. High tides run higher around the full moon, which is why the late-November window is the higher of the two.

The highest water comes with the afternoon and evening high tides, so the worst hours are shorter than they first look.

What the high water does

Elevated tides can push water near or over low seawall caps, flood low-lying streets around high tide, and reduce clearance under fixed bridges. Rainfall on top of high water makes drainage slower.

If you run fixed bridges, time crossings for lower water, and confirm dock lines have slack for the full tidal range.

Hurricane season winds down

The Atlantic hurricane season runs through November 30. Keep your storm plan current through the end of the month, then use the calm season to schedule waterfront maintenance.

King tides and storm surge can push water higher than the wall, so plan for the highest water, not the average.

Checks for waterfront owners

Walk the seawall at high water during the king tide windows and photograph the waterline. A dated high-water photo record is useful if flood insurance, permits, or a future repair ever need evidence of how high water gets at your property.

Measure depth at low tide, not high tide, when judging how much water your slip has. King tides are the wrong moment to assume a slip is deep.
