What does dredging cost?
Dredging is priced by the volume of material removed, measured in cubic yards, plus access, difficulty, disposal and permits. Published industry ranges give a useful starting picture, but every waterway is different, and the only reliable number for your property comes from a free on-site estimate.
How it is priced
Five factors drive every dredging estimate
No two waterways are the same, which is why no contractor can quote a real project from a chart. These five factors are what a crew evaluates on site before pricing your job.
Volume, in cubic yards
Dredging is priced by the cubic yard of material removed. The volume of sediment that has filled in your slip, dock or canal is the starting point of any estimate.
Access to your waterway
How the crew and barge reach your property matters. Dock width, canal width, overhead clearances and the distance to the nearest launch or haul site all affect the job.
Difficulty of the material
Simple sand and silt are relatively straightforward to remove. Muck, rock, buried debris, tight spaces and limited access make the work slower and more involved.
Disposal of the dredged material
Everything lifted off the bottom has to go somewhere. Hauling sediment away from your property is part of the job, and special handling of certain material adds to the cost.
Permits
Dredging in Florida tidal waters sits under local, county, state and federal oversight. Permit work and its timing are part of a properly planned project.
Published industry ranges
Industry ranges you may see quoted
The figures below are published industry ranges from named sources, not quotes for any property. Actual pricing depends on the job and the market, and can only be confirmed with a free on-site estimate of your specific waterway.

Figures vary by job and market. The only reliable number for a specific property comes from a free on-site estimate, where a crew measures your actual water depth and evaluates your access and material before quoting.
Get the real number
Charts are a starting point, not a quote
A published range tells you the ballpark you are in. What it cannot tell you is the volume of sediment sitting in your slip, how the barge will reach your dock, or how that specific material has to be handled and hauled away.
A free on-site estimate covers all of it: your water depth, the volume involved, access to your waterway, the permit path, and the complete haul-away of the dredged material. That is the number you can plan against.
